Storage Auctions In The Media - Sanford Storage Wars

Here's another article that's again a bit of a re-tread of the same old stories every local paper was running when "Storage Wars" first hit the airwaves.

The Sanford Herald ran a story titled "Sanford Has It's Own Storage Wars." The article basically just recaps what a storage auction is and talks to a few attendees.

One thing which was interesting was one attentee who supposedly is a regular was complaining about the crowds brought out by the shows. He commented that...

“People see the show and think they can get rich quick, but this isn't California,”

This just stuck out as an interesting thought. I don't think it has anything to do with the show being in California. The other storage auction show "Auction Hunters" recently did a string of  episodes where they traveled the country showing the guys buying storage units full of goodies.

It's not that California has extra good stuff, it's that it's a reality television show and it's not exciting showing people buy units full of old panties and mattresses, it's more fun showing people finding guns, antiques, and other expensive items.

Because of this the shows obviously use a lot of editing and show the very best units or possibly even stage units.
