Article About California Storage Auctions - Discusses Crowds & Finds

Stumbled across this article recently. Briefly describes what a storage auction is and then goes on to discuss how the crowds have grown since the television shows have come on.

They highlight one women and a locker she paid over $1,000 for. She found a "mid-evil" piece of furniture although from the picture it appears to be made with modern 2'x4's so though it may be a cool piece for a certain living room it's not some expensive collectible item.

Apparently she found some bayonets which they don't show pictures of or describe though they do talk about an autographed Jerry Rice football and she says she thinks she will make the money back off of that. Apparently she doesn't realize there has been a HUGE downturn in the sports card and collectibles market. A quick search on ebay shows dozens of autographed Jerry Rice footballs only three of which have bids and all are around $40, the several hundred like that football may have yielded years back. Some are priced as low as $4.99.

A few newbies were interviewed and said they saw the television shows and had to come check out an auction. Several said they had bought a unit or two but hadn't found any treaures...yet. With the volume it seems these buyers are buying at it I would imagine it will be quite a while if ever before they find anything like they saw on television.
